Security Tiers are the link between user permissions and record permissions.
User actions are controlled by the roles that user holds within security tiers. The tiers, not the users, are given permissions for records within the system.
Example: A user has the Administrator role for a security tier called "Site A". A activity called "Activity A" uses a security policy that gives tier "Site A" view and edit permissions (but not add or delete). The user is able to both view and edit Activity A, but is not able to either add or delete the activity, regardless of role permissions.
By default, Ability LMS uses a root tier called "Database". Ability LMS controls this tier and it may not be deleted or edited.
Access to enterprise security functionality utilizing Tiers and Policies must be enabled by a system administrator.
Only users with an administrative role in the database tier can modify security tiers.
